Unemployed Youth Pulled to Garland Farming in Gulmi

A youth cultivator Bishnu Bhandari has not only earned enough money through garland farming but also persuaded other unemployed youth to follow the occupation. Seeing his success another cultivator Cholanath Gyawali has also adopted his path lavishly. Altogether fifty youth are involved so far in the farm inspired by Gyawali. Bhandari and Gyawali earned 7 and 2 lakh rupees per year respectively.People of Thanapati, Digam, Balataxer, Huga, and Hardineta including 12 VDC of the district cultivated garland as the large number of the products exported to India. Another diligent farmer Bam Bahadur BK of Huga VDC earns at least 1 lakh rupees annually. “I was ready to bound Malasia seeking for work”, he added “But I have been came after to earn here through that amount investing here.” Three hundred more people involve professionally in the garland cultivation and about ten million rupees of garland has been exported so far this year, reported the Kantipur daily. Nearly twenty million of garland was traded in Gulmi in previous year. Farmer have not ploughed garland till days expecting of its increase in price this year. Two thousand metric tone of garland is expected to produce this year compared with previous year when farmers witnessed one thousand five hundred and eighty seven metric tone of garland. The farming occupied more than two hundred eighty-seven hectares of land in the district.
