Vehicular strike cripples life in Gulmi

The students brought vehicular movement to a complete halt in Gulmi from early morning Yesterday protesting that the transporters' refused to provide them 45 percent concession in transportation fare. Student leaders had held discussion with transport entrepreneurs briefly at the District Administration Office on Tuesday--but to no avail. The agitating students comprising students affiliated to eight students union jointly called the indefinite transportation strike in the districts after the talks ended inconclusively.Vehicles to and from Gulmi did not ply on the roads causing hardship for people. Agitating students did not let vehicles run at district headquarters Tamghas. They also surrounded District Administration Office demanding stringent action against those who they said beat up students. Protesting against transporters' refusal to provide them 45 percent concession in transportation fare. Students of Ruru Sanskrit campus in Ridi held corner meetings at different places and staged a protest rally in Ridi bazaar. They condemned attack on students and demanded punishment to the guilty. Meanwhile, Life was badly affected in Palpa, Rupandehi and Arghakhanchi as the indefinite transportation strike called by transporta entrepreneurs staged demonstrations to protest the students demand for 45 percent discounts on transportation fares.Agitating students said they were forced to call the strike as the meeting between the administration and eight student organizations did not yield fruit.
