KATHMANDU, JUN 16 -
Nepal thumped lowly Bangladesh 4-1 in the group D match of the AFC U-22 Asian Cup 2013 qualifiers at the Dashrath Stadium on Saturday.
Striker Sujal Shrestha grabbed a brace while skipper Bharat Khawas and Jagjit Shrestha also registered their names into the score sheet scoring a goal each. Deepak Bhusal scored an own goal for the opponents.
Khawas opened the account on the fourth minute when he headed through a free kick into the Bangladesh goal post. However, Deepak Bhusal brought the score in level on the second half of the game when he misjudged a corner kick and headed the ball into his own net.
But Nepal soon took a lead through Jagjit Shrestha’s goal on the 52nd minute. Shrestha met a pass from substitute Amir Shrestha to head the ball past the Bangladeshi goalie Russell.
Sujal Shrestha then scored a brace to take the total goal tally to four and ensure a comfortable victory against the below par Bangladesh team.
Nepal will now play against Yemen on Monday.
Earlier, 10-men Jordan thrashed Yemen by 4-0 on the first game of the day.
